The all new 2014 Infiniti Q50S, a car for the young and sporty

The new 2014 Infiniti Q50S is the offspring of the 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT released a decade ago by the brand. The new car is equipped with 3.7 Liter V6 engine producing 328hp/269lb-ft and rear-wheel drive train with 7-speed automatic transmission. It can seat 2 at the front and 3 in the rear and can leave 13.5 cu-ft of cargo space to passengers.

In spite of being a new model Infiniti it is very much the same car that was launched two generations earlier in size but differs in weight by a good 300 pounds. This can be attributed to the various upgrades and novel technical inventions added to the car. This however does not work as a deterrent for speed because the increased 68 horsepower more than makes up for it. However the charming manual transmission much liked by car enthusiasts is now replaced by a 7-speed automatic.

Like the previous models of Infiniti the 2014 Q50 is a worthy successor luxury sedan because it is laced with premium features. In the past car deals were struck by their performance but the new generation wants more in the driving dynamics. The features and sophistication integrated into this car is sufficient to draw the younger lot to its proximity the same way the decade old G35 customers did to customers.

This new Q50 Sedan was launched at the Detroit Auto Show 2013 and the 4-door beauty complemented its predecessors in terms of technology and style. The InTouch technology, a future generation HMI (Human Machine Interface), Direct Adaptive Steering & Active Lane Control, a technology that allows the driver to operate the vehicle by steer-by-wire are the innovations that are really going to impress the current lot. This system is a breakthrough that gives the semi-auto driving capability to drivers by the elimination mechanical of link among wheels and steering. The Q50S of Infiniti has 7 different models but 2 sports models wearing S on their decklid are also available.

These are premium models that are fitted with high performance braking, 19” wheels made of alloy, sport-tuned suspension, 10-way sport seats, magnesium paddle shift and entirely new front façade. The model is also available in two versions of drive, all-wheel ad rear wheel. The Q50S hybrid fitted with a 3.5 liter V-6 is also made available to customers. Infiniti Q50S offers the fuel economy of 20mpg in the city and 29mpg on highway roads. The car is offered at the base price of $43, 200 and tested price of $46, 285 to customers.

This latest of the Infiniti, the Q50S is really world class in Sedans and turned out to be a much better version of the G37. However the car loses its sporty charm to some extent due to the refinements and heavy polish meted on it. There is no question that the new Infiniti has attained maturity in its 3rd generation avatar but only at the cost its original design graphics. This is definitely a car for the current generation however.
