Old cars are discarded because they are old, but their brand value never diminishes. Old bodies gather rust, the suspension loosens and ultimately the engine devours itself. The classic recreations of Yukon Oklahoma, the Ford Mustang specialists, offer a cure for this if you want your 1968 fastback restored with a fresh leash or life littered with rejuvenated modern vitality.
Don’t mistake this; it is going to be expensive. The cure is the “Villain” by Classic Recreations Supercars. The resurrected Mustang is rendered with considerable body changes, a 5.0 Liter DOHC Coyote V-8 engine from the current Mustang, and a new suspension and everything else is upgraded. The rejuvenated Mustang takes on the bends with unflustered demeanor akin to live axle Mustang of last generation, but at the same time retains the serenity of the yesteryear pre-pony car. Jason Engel, the owner of the establishment, says that it is the assembly-line custom hot rods ideas that make the car. He says that you can customize the car in any shape you want or in any combination such as an original looking stock car with modern tools concealed or a Procar with bucket seats. But one that is sure is that it is not an old car and according to the owner, he would not stick a 550-hp rocket into an old body and expect it to hold together. He was referring to some of the Shelby cars that the company reproduces. You have to options to build the Villain, either go for the reproduction body costing $17, 500 by Dynacorn Classic Bodies based in Camarillo, Ca or get the body from the original donor of a 68 model. If the second choice is yours, then Engel would like to have the rusty baskets because it will allow swapping of metal in a large way to make it better reinforced. A customer shall have to endure a 12-month waiting period to get the car. The Bad Guy Orange prototype engine is a 5.0 Liter Coyote crate engine that is rated at 475 horses. The engine is a much powerful version of the present day Mustang’s with 435-hp, and it is bolted to a six-speed manual from Tremec and there is a nine-inch limited-slip from Positraction at the rear end. The assembly made the 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds and hit the quarter-mile at 12.9 seconds speeding at 112mph. This timing same as the 2015 Mustang GT. It would have posted a faster timing than this but for the tire selection, which is massive overkill with335/30 at the back. These rubbers are suited more for Vipers producing 645-hp and for cornering, but for launches they add weight. The cornering for such a vintage looking vehicle is really amazing; it appears to be capable producing the same performance as the Mustang of the last generation. The Villain is not coming cheaper, and the price of $154,900 tells you that. The cost can be compared with the 100-point restoration proper, of the original and on completion it will offer you point type ignition and droopy body stiffness.
