From the year 1991 till its end in the year 1996, the mercury tracer was considered as the official version of Ford escort. The basic warranty of the vehicles covers almost everything except for the items that are easily subjected to wear and tear which includes air filters and the oil filters. In most cases, the tires and the batteries are excluded but those items have their own warranty provided by the manufacturers.

In rare cases, the drive train warranty continues to be in existence even after the basic warranty expired.
