The Ford Taurus Is Back And that Is More Powerful Than Ever
There are many cars which make a spectacular performance and receive amazing ratings from the users. The way you could easily see whether or not a certain model or a series was popular enough was by simply following the years of production. The more years it has spent in production, the more likely it will be true that it received a massively positive feedback. Such is the case with the Ford Taurus, which began its path to glory in 1985 and it is still actively involved in production of new models. This means that the series was successful for more than 20 long years, and of course, by extension one of the Ford’s best-selling models to this date.
How long has this series been in production?
The first model of the Ford Taurus, which has been released in 1986 followed the Ford LTD and the series was able to produce as many as four generations before it went into a brief hiatus, only to come back, create the fifth and the sixth generation, close the production and most recently revive and completely remodel it starting from the year 2013. This leaves most interested buyers to choose between various generations, but you should keep in mind that the first generations have been produced a long time ago, and won’t be as likely to provide you with quality the newer generations certainly possess. The latest Ford Taurus has been released this year, and another one has already been planned to be released and sold the next year. The several first generations made this car to be a midsize one, while the most notable change with this year’s model is the change in the size, going from midsize to full-size starting from the year 2008. This resulted in a much more spacious interior cabin, as well as a larger trunk. The overall size changes weren’t the only innovations which the newer Ford Taurus brought along upon being released.
Can I expect the standard upgrades to be available?
The Ford car industry has yet again been generous with allowing its users to upgrade the Ford Taurus. The upgrades can be made to the appearance of both the interior and the exterior as well as the performance segments of the car. The interior accessories are usually connected to technological gadgets, and offer some of the top edge technological upgrades, such as the intelligent access with push button start the navigation system with traffic and travel links, as well as the voice-activated communications and entertainment system. Other upgrades will most certainly alter the way the vehicle looks from the outside or the number of conventional features it might have available. The most important thing, the fact that you will be able to find a large number of upgrades available for purchase, so depending on your budget, you will be able to perform smaller, medium or larger upgrades to your car. To help you easily organize the upgrades, Ford sorted them into packages, which will instantly display a large number of features available within one.
What are the engine’s performances like?
Even the existing engine can be upgraded to a different version, in case you would like your car to be green friendly. You can actually replace the current engine the Ford Taurus comes with. That happens to be the 3.5L 24 valve DOHC Ti –VCT V – 6 engine with a multipoint fuel injection system and the upgrade, we mentioned a moment ago will convert it into a 2.0L EcoBoost engine. In any case, the engine will be powered up by a six speed Select Shift transmission. The four-wheel independent suspension and the torque vectoring control and curve system help the engine become as efficient as possible, allowing it to successfully achieve the 255 HP and 254ft –lbs of torque. This proves to be quite a powerful engine, but some of the complaints users have related to this area is about how heavy the car is.
What about the fuel economy?
Sadly, the Ford Taurus comes short in this area completely, seeing as, despite its size and all of the technological features it was able to offer, it features only a 17 gallon fuel tank. Such a small amount of the fuel is not at all a pleasant choice, seeing as a large vehicle of this type should have at least 20 gallons of fuel available. To make matters even worse, the mileage of the Ford Taurus doesn’t seem that favorable either, as you will be able to cross 19mpg, leaving you with the constant need of refills and generally bad fuel economy. This single disadvantage might easily make the potential buyers re consider, as one of the most important features a good car should have is at least a semi viable fuel economy with a decently sized fuel tank.
Can I count of good safety features?
Ford’s traditional interest towards the safety of every model can assure us that the safety features in the Ford Taurus have been dealt with accordingly and with utmost care. In fact, some of the specific software has been employed in order to provide a secure layer of safety, which would accompany the general airbag setup along with the traction control, the engine immobilizer and the brake assist features. An interesting safety feature which will prove to be quite a useful asset to the overall safety of the Ford Taurus is the curve control system, which will automatically warn you, once you enter a curve, and automatically decrease the acceleration in order to gain better control over the car’s balance. Besides the active safety features, the Ford Taurus has a few anti theft elements implemented into it as well.
Would it still be a good idea to buy this car?
It actually makes a great purchase. The reason is simple: the Ford Taurus brings much more to the table than the previous versions did. Seeing as this particular series is still in production, it might be quite possible to see that a new model will be launched and the primary focus of it would be fixing the fuel economy issue this model seemed to have. If you can live with this sort of a fuel economy, the rest of the car is going to be an ideal purchase for anyone.
