Daewoo Leganza: equipped with all the latest features

Introduction:-

Daewoo motors, the South Korean manufacturers built Daewoo leganza which is a mid-size sedan. This car was produced between years 1999-2002. Its platform and its internal development name was V100.  According to Daewoo, the name Leganza is originated from the combination of two Italian words - elegante (elegant) and forza (power).  This Leganza was a part of Daewoo’s effort to develop a lineup of proprietary vehicles to replace all the previous GM-licensed models.  Its Sister projects the T100 Daewoo Lanos and J100 Daewoo Nubira. The development of "x100" cars is a result of combined effort of many subcontractors and suppliers. Leganza was styled by the famous Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro who also designed Daewoo Lanos. Its design was inspired by Giugiaro's 1990 Jaguar Kensington concept car.

 Various models of leganza and their features:-

This car came in four generations. All cars support front wheel driving.

1.      First Daewoo leganza was launched in 1999. This is a base model of leganza. The design of this car was inspired with 1990’s Jaguar Kensington concept car and its outer body was inspired by 1991 Toyota Aristo

2.      2nd generation of this car was introduced in 2000. In this model company used uplift in the basic model. Interior was also changed.

3.      3rd generation car was launched in 2001 with all type of safety equipments such as central locking, navigation control, airbags, power window and many more.

4.      Last and 4th generation car was the most luxurious car of this model. The outer look is modified. Look was appealing and came with beautiful colors.

Options and Packages:-

The base model of Leganza was offered with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual, cloth trim, hubcaps and all the standard power options. The other option is also available with this model. This option has 4-speed, hydraulically operated transmission that was speciall6yn made for rough operating. You can take your car on bad conditioned roads. The car will tended to hunt between gears, and you can do unnecessary downshifts to second gear. Although Ride quality of leganza was poor, and cabin noise intrusion was much higher.

In year 1999, Daewoo made lots of modifications to the model. The rough-operating hydraulic auto was replaced with an electronically controlled automatic transmission. This new feature stopped the hunting between gears and random downshifts. Also the engine was upgraded to the 2.2 l liter.

Under the Hood:-

The leganza is luxurious sedan but due to its poor performance, it could not get more popular than other gamily cars of that time. The Daewoo Leganza was basically a front-wheel-drive car, available in a four-door sedan body only. The engine of leganza was powered by Holden-sourced D-TEC DOHC 16V I4 engines which provide two displacements by using the same block and bore but differing in stroke:

• 2.0 l (1998 cc) engine was used in models ofEurope. This engine produce 131 hp (98 kW; 133 PS) @ 5400rpm, and develop torque of 185 N·m (136 lb·ft) @ 4600rpm.
• 2.2 l (2198 cc) engine is mainly used for American and Australian market. This engine is more powerful and produce 133 hp (99 kW; 135 PS) @ 5200rpm and torque of 200 N·m (148 lb·ft) @ 2800rpm.

Both engines of leganza came with either a 5-speed manual transmission, or a 4-speed automatic.

 Fuel economy of Daewoo Leganza:-

New upgraded electronically controlled automatic transmission was added with the model which helps reduce hunting between gears and random downshifts. The engine was also modified with 2.2. Liter engine which helps to boost the power from 98 kW (133 PS; 131 hp) to 99 kW (135 PS; 133 hp). This upgradation gives better performance, but fuel consumption is increased. That’s why in terms of fuel economy leganza has not achieved success as Daewoo Lanos. The mileage is very low. And even in the bad conditioned roads fuel consumption increased drastically.  In the city it gives mileage of 18 mpg while in highways its average mileage is 26 mpg. In this way we can say it is ideal for long run.

 Safety and technology of Daewoo leganza:-

In terms of safety test this car has efficiently passed all type of road test and crash driving test like Daewoo Lanos, such as-

·         high-speed stability and durability test

·         Low-temperature testing

·         high-temperature tests

·         brake testing

Also this car is equipped with all latest safety features such as four airbags on drivers and passenger’s seat, ABS brakes, traction control to avoid skid and stability control.

Also Leganza used standard 15-inch alloy wheels, remote central locking, anti-theft alarm, improved and fixed suspension, leather upholstery, an electric driver's seat and wood grain trim, NAV system, CD player and many more advanced features.

Conclusion:

Although this car had poor fuel economy but it was good family car. People who want A Long luxurious sedan at affordable price can choose Daewoo leganza. It was a 4-door sedan and 5 people can comfortably sit in this car. In a front row two person while rear seat allow seats for 3-person. Larger boot space makes this a perfect car for long run. Apart from mileage this car is good in all the ways. The interior look was designed carefully to provide a comfortable ride while outer look is very beautiful. This car was equipped with all the latest features such as sunroofs, air-conditioning, power windows, leather seats, and power seats, audio cassette and CD player, airbags, ABS brake, traction control, stability control and many more.
