Mitsubishi Outlander: Elegance That Comes With Safety

The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander pitches the automaker towards families that it has never been before. It does not have the same bold design and performance that the Mitsubishi models have been carrying over a decade. The emphasis in the new model has been laid on comfort, efficiency and functions.

Looking at the model, there is no bolder styling with a shark nose in the front, the interior, the wedged personality- all have been replaced with features that give a restrained feeling. The car looks somewhat nimble because of the loss in weight which has been achieved by including high tensile steel. However, because of the softer suspension and changes that have been made for refinement, the fun to drive is gone.

The car does not look sporty but it definitely is elegant with simple, tasteful and modest interior. Being one of the cheapest of the vehicles that offer seating of three rows, the Outlander can accommodate up to seven passengers. The seats in the third row can be folded flat, the cargo floor however being low, and the second row can slide front and back in order to fine-tune the legroom.

When in the Eco mode, the car sends all its power to the wheels in the front unless there is a need of traction. The mileage for the model is 25 mpg within the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

Mitsubishi has incorporated electrically powered steering system in the new model; the rear suspension geometry has been redesigned, and has gone for softer springs. There is one really good feature that the car is tough enough or deep snow or off-roading. Other systems that have been incorporate are Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision which at a lower speed will give signal that there is an obstacle ahead and then stop the vehicle by putting on the brakes. The car is one of the safest vehicles and has been given five stars by the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety).

Mitsubishi has been selling the Outlander model with aggressive driving and styling attributes, but the new generation has been repositioned completely in a new form, with a new value and offers value for money when compare to other compact, mid-sized crossovers. And if you are planning on going for a three row crossover then this one is the right option. The models available for the 2015 Outlander are the ES, GT and SE, SE being the best model in the line-up that provides the best value for money.

There are no Bluetooth or alloy wheels n the base ES models, however they include features like keyless entry, automatic climate control system and a 140 watt audio system with six speakers. The other features of the ES models are push button start heated front seats, dual zone climate control, rear view camera (an interface which is superior to what most of the rivals offer) and a touch screen system that is incorporated with the FUSE HandsFreeLink system.
