Mazda the maverick brand does a great deal with so little at hand. This Japan based company has singlehandedly has kept the racing aspirations of the budget oriented consumers with its MX-5 and has steadfastly resisted the temptation of earning fat profits by adopting ways that other automakers have been following to fill coffers. The Mazda vehicle has to establish its own identity and the CX-5 has done its own.

The CX-5 has impressed one and all and when it was introduced for the 2013 model with its efficiency, driving dynamics and utility.  When the CX-5 was inducted with a 2.5 Liter making 184-hp the power deficiency experienced by the model was remedies. For the 2016 model the CX-5 is going to be offered with interior material and design that would look on par with the Audi. The same treatment has been also given to the Mazda 3 and the Mazda 6 to perk up its class.

Mid-life updates are always tricky, but Mazda was not going to brush something which has been already brushed up. so you see very little changes  in it in the form of a revised grille with five bar shield, new LED lights for head and tail, and  fog lamps for the higher level specs. Otherwise the 2016 CX-5 has the same poise and grace of the predecessor’s design.

Though we have already talked about the updates for the 2016 CX-5 when it was shown at the Los Angles car show, but we think that it is worth repeating. Most of the changes are found in the cabin and the aspects that interact with the occupants. Interior details in the refreshed CX-5 look classier and more defined. The console and the dashboard inherit tasteful accent and nicer material and the armrests have been rendered comfortable. Padding has been added on the side of the center console to absorb knee impact while driving on twisty roads.

You have more stash space in the Mazda as the maker has freed up the parking area of the handbrake by opting to an electric parking brake. The easy access storage bin located below the center stack houses an auxiliary jack and two USB ports for convenience. Another cubbyhole located in the console has been aptly size for storing the key fob and the car also offers push-button ignition as a standard feature. The major change in the car however is the inheritance of the Mazda Connect Infotainment system which comes with every model except the base.  It also features a multifunction control like the Audi MMI, so a driver does not need to bend forward to access the hard buttons in the old system. Increasing the size of the info screen from 5.8 to 7.0 has also made it easy to read the screen

The test car a Grand Touring model had comfortable and supportive seats that are covered with parchment leather. Other convenient features included leather wrapped steering wheel, climate control knobs that are easy to handle. It would have been perfect only if the backup camera display had trajectory lines that are dynamic and the volume control had been located at the driver’s side.
