Every Ford SUV that follows us looks like a California Highway Patrol as the cops have switched over to the Ford Explorers. The stress level could shoot up especially when you are travelling in a convey using a combined power of 1810-hp.  Only excuse you would make to the cops is that your digital display was flickering too much to read the speed number.

That is an excuse not likely to jell with the California patrol. The candy colored fleet included a cherry-red machine which was one of the finest ever constructed by Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette Z06 which is more powerful than the Stingray and it makes 650- hp with the help of the 6.2 Liter supercharged V-8. The power figure is 195 more than the Stingray.

Going back in time the 1979 Corvette made 195-hp. The extra juice from the Z06 is achieved by the direct fuel injection, titanic intake valves, variable valve timing, 9.4 psi supercharger and forged pistons   with 10.0:1 compression ratio. Just by pushing the pedal you can erase the memory of the ZR1 with 638-hp that we all were mourning. We have the quickest Lemonhead in the back ground in the form of Porsche 911 Turbo S painted in Racing Yellow. The price of $195,175 you pay for the Porsche is double of the Corvette’s cost. The 560-hp machine comes with a 3.8 Liter flat-six engine married to a dual cutch seven speed automatic. The Porsche also has four-wheel driving and four-wheel steering and all combined make it one mean machine to reckon with in terms of speed.

The Z06 we operated came with a redone Z07 chassis, which cost an extra $10, 990 or you can break it to $7,995 plus $2995 for the carbon-fiber package for ground-effects. It surely is expensive but it buys some important hardware like Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubbers and carbon-ceramic brakes, specially designed for the Z07. With these addendums the Corvette produces some of the top numbers that we have seen and heard, and this is the Z07 package that gives edge over other cars and enable Corvette perform outstandingly.

The Nissan GT-R NISMO in vanilla-white was last item in the group and the performance department of the Nissan has packed in 55hp extra power with its 3.8 Liter V-6 which also shares the turbochargers with GT-R GT3 racer. The Nissan offers great grip with the combination of a revised chassis and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT run-flat tires with NISMO specification and the front-wheels with half an inch extra width adds more grip. Stiffness of the unibody has been vastly improved with the structural adhesives. The model also comes with an aero package that has a carbon-fiber wing of large size to create tremendous downforce without much hampering the drag coefficient.  Well if you like it then you shall have to shell out$151,880 which is 50 percent increase over the standard GT-R.

We made our self invisible to the radar by avoiding major highways and in place went in to the canyons. Sticking to the public roads we have managed to obtain the lap timing of Turbo S and GT-R NISMO and hoping to get the timing of the Z06 on the Virginia International Raceway. We thought that testing these cars in public roads would bring out the real performance of these cars.
