2015 Scion xB is quaintly boxy but yet luring to modern buyers

Scion is ascribed as the pioneer in the boxy-car market segment; this design has enabled the automaker to capture high sales owing to the cult classic, catchy styling cube and functionality. The 2015 Scion xB imparts from the previous models and is poised to lock horns with the Kia Soul that has already gained toehold. The latest xB is highly functional like its antecedents, pocket-sized, mended with amazing functionality options inside like the small, centrally outfitted gauges. Since the xB is a revolutionary and evolutionary special edition, its name is already familiar in various markets like the US.

The boxy-quaint design is enhanced by a bluntly cut frontal edge with a supple-black lowly-ensconced grille, black back diffuser, LED accent lights and chromatic accents. This gives the xB a firm and sexy posture that continues with observable curving and gloss lines on the tailgate and conspicuous wheels. It also comes in a variety of color options to choose from.

Inside, modern appeal in style is not overly embraced but some components show improvements from the antecedent models. The seats are foldable at the rear to create more cargo space. Additionally, frontal occupant’s seats collapse flat and second-row seat accommodates more adults; this was not possible in the original generation of the xB. The seats have been padded fairly for more coziness and elegance but frontal seats may be unsuitable for long trips.

The xB allows a wide array of customization and bespoken options, though this does not always come with a high price tag. The quasi-van vehicle comes with full equipment, upgrades and a wide array of accessories to perk up life on-board. Essentially, every xB incorporates a display audio system that has a 6.1” touchscreen, auxiliary audio and USB port, six speakers, Bluetooth connectivity and HD radio feature.  The rear view camera also comes as standard for all xBs.

As for the engine, the xB comes with a 2.4-liter 4V engine that is equipped in the Toyota Camry churning out 158-horsepower; however, its athleticism is diminished as the car weighs above 3,000 pounds. It is offered with a manual as well as an automated transmission. The frontal strut and back torsion-beam suspension, mated with proper electric power steering results in crisp and maneuverable cruising in the city. The maneuvering at corners may feel clumsy at high speeds; however, ride comfy is fine at low speeds but gets pitchy on highways. Fuel economy checks in at 22 mpg city/28mpg hwy for all transmissions.

Overall, the 2015 Scion xB has good handling and steering manners, a fair power unit and comes in handy for those in pursuit of a simple ride. It will appeal to buyers who have a penchant for its quirky boxy shape that distinguishes it in the market. What’s more, the xB comes with loads of standard equipment that are offered as optional extras in rival models, put in a nutshell, it comes wholly equipped. The brand is also popular with shoppers in the market, the new xB will buoy on this to capture the market.
