FUEL ECONOMY
According to the stats, the Nissan Rogue’s gas mileage has taken a great leap upward significantly this year. It has displaced all its competitors from their ranks be it mediocre to top or mid-size crossovers.
The previous year Rogue offered 23 miles per gallon in city and 28 miles per gallon on highway for the front wheel drive. But with all wheel drive it fell to 22 miles per gallon in city and 26 miles per gallon on highway.
But this year, the improvement in the CVT and addition of more efficient tires gave the Rogue an excellent fuel economy ratings be it in the city or on the highway. According to the EPA, the front wheel drive Rogue gives the rating of 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. This number is same for the all-wheel drive Rogue.
STANDARD FEATURES AND OPTIONS
Nissan has implemented the lessons it has learned with the new Rogue that mainstream the look and styles and also standardize some of its inexpensive tech features.
The base model of Rogue that is S starts from a very reasonable price of $22,490. It comes with all the features which most of the drivers require. It has got power windows with locks and mirrors. AM/FM/Cd player is given with a USB port. It has also got the capability of Bluetooth with audio streaming. A rearview camera enables clear rearview. If one wants an all-wheel drive Rogue S then the price rises to$23,840.
The Rogue SV starts with a price of $24,230 for front wheel drive and $25,580 for all-wheel drive. It has got improvement over Rogue S and has 17-in wheels with a power driver seat. It has also got a satellite radio and automatic climate control system. This model is provided with a push button start and enables the use of smartphone apps like Pandora with its feature called Nissan Connect. This connectivity kit is one of the best feature of this model and is an easy system one will find in the class.
The top class of the Rogue is the SL. It starts with the price of $28,070 for the front wheel drive and $29,420 for all-wheel drive. This model has includes Bose audio and a power tailgate with navigation system. Surround view camera is also provided so as to view the surrounding. With 18-in wheels, heated front seats and the leather upholstery, this model is one of the best by far in all the models of Rogue.
Even options are provided to choose a package which may include run flat tires, advanced safety systems and panoramic sunroofs with LED headlights.
SAFETY FEATURES
The Nissan Rogue earned a good score in all of the five required parameters which is usually checked by the Insurance institute for highway safety. It managed to secure IIHS’s top safety pick plus. This car has been given a basic rating for its front crash protection. It includes an optional warning system for forward collision. It has got an acceptable score for roof strength and a marginal score in the overlap front test. This test checks off-center collision when it hits a tree causing deadly crash.
The National Highway Traffic safety Administration gave the Rogue a 4-star overall rating. This car managed 3-star rating for the front impact protection. For the side impact it got a 5-star.
Nissan implement its own safety features in all of its car. The 2014 Rogue is added with standard curtain airbags and a tire pressure monitors. Inclusion of stability control system also enhances the performance. Safety features also includes a forward collision alert system, lane departure warning system and blind spot monitors.
The surround view camera enables a 360-degree view of the obstacles and it makes parking of the car much simpler.
UNDER THE HOOD
All Nissan Rogue are powered by a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine producing 170Hp and 175lb-ft torque.
The rogue has got a new styling theme that matches up its older one with more handsomely fabricated surfaces and a mass market appeal.
Inside, Nissan has given a finely finished interior comprising of high quality materials. It has got a LCD monitor with all touch interfaces. It’s one of the elegantly designed car you love to drive.
